PROPERTIES in and around Winsford will be affected by parish boundary changes being tabled by the borough council.

Under draft recommendations for Cheshire West and Chester Council’s community governance review, some properties currently in the Darnhall parish will be transferred into the Winsford parish.

Elsewhere, boundary changes will mean properties in the Winsford Parish will be moved into the Whitegate and Marton parish.

Documents supporting the draft recommendation say the changes will be implemented to ‘determine more appropriate parish boundaries which reflect the identities and interests of local residents’.

It’s proposed that the existing boundary of the parish of Darnhall be redrawn to the north of Moors Lane, the result being that dozens of properties will be transferred into Winsford.

Based on the Register of Electors, the current total electorate for the area is 168, which is forecast to increase to 268 over the next five years.

If implemented, the effect of CWAC’s proposal would be to reduce that number to 223.

The changes to the Winsford, Whitegate and Marton parish are more extensive and also involve houses transferring from the Hartford and Cuddington parishes.

It’s proposed that the existing boundary of the parish of Whitegate and Marton be redrawn to the south east of the Whitegate Way.

The parish’s current electorate of 949 is expected to increase slightly to 955 over the next five years, but CWAC’s boundary change would increase that forecast to 1,284.
