TAYLOR Wimpey will build 180 new houses on land off Oakmere Road.

The developer has purchased the site from Hallam Land, following a successful outline planning application in 2012.

Taylor Wimpey has now submitted a reserved matters application to Cheshire West and Chester Council to begin the development.

Homes will range from range from two to four bedrooms, including 54 affordable dwellings.

Ian Smith, managing director for Taylor Wimpey north west, said: “We are delighted to have acquired this land and to have submitted our detailed planning application for this exciting new development in Cheshire, where an extensive collection of homes will soon be available.”

Access to the site will be taken from a new roundabout onto Oakmere Road, with a new footpath link created to Chester Road.

Mr Smith added: “We are keen to support the local community as much as possible and expect that the new development will generate approximately 180 full time jobs over the construction period.”

Over Residents Action Committee fought a fierce campaign against the development, which is the first phase of more than 500 new homes planned in the Oakmere Road and Littler Lane region.
