WINSFORD schoolchildren penned their own great story at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park – by creating an award winning ‘writer’s garden’.
Oaklands School pupils took on professional landscapers in the feature section of the annual awards, planting an attractive 4x8 metre patch in just a few days to scoop a highly commended – the highest possible gong for the category.
The garden, complete with borders formed from giant pencils, complemented Winsford Education partnership’s yearly schools contest.
So high was the quality of Oaklands’ work that the plot’s creation was filmed and shown to flower show visitors – to prove the Writer’s Garden was the work of students and not professional horticulturists.
