THE Neuromuscular Centre in Winsford is currently appealing for volunteers to help it deliver various fundraising events and support people affected by muscular dystrophy.

The Woodford Lane West charity offers help and support in the form of training, supported employment, physiotherapy and care to people affected by the degenerative muscle condition.

The NMC is used by hundreds of families across Cheshire and relies almost entirely upon donations and various fundraising to generate the £800,000 needed each year to keep the centre running.

The charity stage a variety of fundraisers, including the Spirit of Christmas event at Chester Cathedral, Wag ‘n’ Walk sponsored dog walks, theatre evenings, cake making, Thornton’s chocolate evenings, ladies nights, beer tasting, quiz nights and film events.

“If you have been looking to volunteer for a charity but aren't sure where to start, why not pop into the Neuromuscular Centre and find out why we are so unique,” said community fundraiser, Kay Briggs.
