ANOTHER property developer is planning to build hundreds of new houses on the edge of Winsford Flashes.

Bellway Homes intend to develop 243 houses on land to the east of Way’s Green.

It’s the latest in a string of planned developments on the edge of the scenic lake.

600 households and businesses are being leafleted and asked to submit their views on the proposals via a special web site: yourwinsford.co.uk.

Respondents have just over a fortnight to submit their thoughts on the scheme, which will feature a mix of town houses, semi- and detached homes.

David Williams, regional managing director for Bellway Homes, said: “We’ve thought very carefully about the design and landscaping issues for the site and liaised extensively with the local authority over a range of issues.

“That said, we haven’t got a monopoly on wisdom and we’re asking local people to let us know if our proposals could be improved in any way.”

A spokesman for Bellway said the development will ‘add value’ to neighbouring houses and enhance what is ‘an enduringly popular’ part of the town.

They added that local ward councillors from Cheshire West and Chester Council had already been consulted on the scheme and that a presentation has been arranged to the planning committee of Winsford Town Council.

Mr Williams added that the proposals would improve access for pedestrians and cyclists to Winsford Flashes and the scheme would incorporate ‘substantial landscaping, tree planting and public open space.’

Approximately 30 per cent of the homes will be affordable and managed by a local housing association.

A planning application is likely to be submitted in early August.

The deadline for submitting views closes at midnight on Friday, August 1.
