DAME Vera Lynn has wished ‘good luck’ to a Winsford man’s innovative big band show, which helps dementia sufferers rekindle old memories through the power of song.

Tim Ashcroft’s Thanks for the Memory concert will take listeners on a trip down memory lane, featuring the Dave Egerton Band playing the music of Glen Miller, Count Basie, Vera Lynn, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles and more.

“Music has the power to act as a trigger and remind people of things buried in the past,” said Tim, who runs Innovas, based in the Verdin Exchange.

“We hope our concert will bring back precious memories for those living with dementia and memory loss and their families, and take them all back in time through music bringing back the memories of those yester-years.”

The forces’ sweetheart has personally written to Tim wishing him all the best and thanking band singer Hannah Bowyer for performing We’ll Meet Again, because the tune ‘reminds everybody of that era when we all worked together for peace’.

Winsford based acoustic artist, Sam Lyon, will also play at the interval of the show, which gets underway at 2pm in Cranage Hall Hotel on Sunday, May 11.

The concert will raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society and Nantwich Museum Dementia Friends Group.
