THE acclaimed Mikron Theatre will sail into Winsford again this summer to perform their brand new comedy play.

The four-strong acting company, who tour the country via Britain’s waterways, will dock their vintage narrowboat on the Weaver before staging Till the Cows Come Home at the Winsford Academy theatre.

It’s the third time the Over Allotments Association has booked the Marsden-based acting troupe to perform in the town, and their latest play comes with all the humour, live music and memorable characters they’ve become famed for.

Allotments chair John Malam said: “we’re thrilled to have them coming back.

“Mikron are, quite simply, one of the country's most versatile touring theatre companies. Their plays are always topical, and Till the Cows Come Home is no exception — it’s a farm-fresh, full-fat, fair-trade fable about the food we eat.”

The play centres on disenchanted council worker, Harvey Granelli, who is inspired by his Italian father – a part-time playboy and one-time ice-cream maker, Romeo – to follow his heart.

But when he whips up a gelato from Papa Granelli’s recipe book it just doesn’t taste the same, leading him on a quest for ingredients to all corners of the earth.

Will he return in time to prevent his faithful girlfriend Maud surrendering to the charms of another man? And why is he being followed?

Find out at Winsford Academy, Grange Lane, Winsford, CW7 2BT at 7.30pm on June 6.

Tickets £11, £9 concessions, £30 for a family ticket of two adults and two children under 16.
