A NEW free resource for debt advice has officially opened in Winsford.
The red ribbon was cut on Christians Against Poverty’s new drop in centre in Fountains Court on Saturday, June 1.
The charity lends a listening ear and offers helpful guidance to anyone suffering hardship, pointing them along the right paths out of debt, while also offering a counselling service.
Mayor, clr Mike Kennedy, said: “In these times of severe financial hardships it is really pleasing to see that a group such as Christians Against Poverty are taking up the slack to offer advice to the many people now facing financial difficulties.”
Winsford’s new CAP debt advice centre was boosted by money from Cheshire West and Chester Council and Winsford Town Council.
The centre, at 19 Queen’s Parade, provides information on CWAC’s Stop Loan Sharks team and Weaver Vale Housing Trust.
CAP are hoping to offer free courses on budget management in the future to prevent people getting into debt in the first place.
Opening hours will be extended eventually to include some mid week opening with help from Winsford Volunteer Centre.
Opening hours are at present Saturday morning 10am-1pm.
Call Gina Lewis on 01606 590995 to organise a Saturday appointment.
Christians Against Poverty’s direct free phone number is 0800 328 0006.
