My picture has been on TV in Coronation Street!

A YOUNG would-be actor from Winsford has seen one of his pictures finally appear on TV soap Coronation Street.

Tommy Drummond, nine, drew a picture of a castle when he was six for the character Craig Harris, played by Richard Fleeshman, who among other things found out that his character's father was killed.

Tommy felt sorry for the character Craig and sent in the picture to cheer him up.

The picture didn't appear on the soap but Tommy persevered by drawing a picture of a cab for the character Steve McDonald, played by Simon Gregson.

In January, Tommy received a letter saying that the picture would be displayed in the cab office and a few months later it appeared.

Mother Joanne, a care worker, said: "Tommy is very proud of the picture and we didn't realise it would be such a big shot. We were really excited about it."

The picture has been up in the cab office for just over a month.

Joanne added: "We've always watched Corrie and Tommy was really excited. It's nice that the picture has been acknowledged with a letter and appeared on the show. We thought it would only appear for a few seconds but was a nice clear shot. He wants to be an actor when he grows up - maybe he's doing this because he hopes that they will snap him up.

"I'm very proud of him and he's lovely. I've been telling everyone about it and I think it's good that millions of people have seen the picture."

Tommy attends Wharton Junior School in Greville Drive and goes to drama classes on Monday evenings.
