Builders add a little more child’s play on the estate
WORK has started on the second part of a £135,000 play area on Glebe Green estate.
Builders will be on the site of the multi-use games area (MUGA) in Glebe Green for eight weeks creating a section for younger children.
The area will include whizzers, springers, a stand-on seesaw as well as a toddler unit. The play area already has a teen shelter and football and basketball equipment.
It is being designed by community group Harmony along with Muir Housing Group and Groundwork.
Project manager Katherine Stanier, from Groundwork, said: "I am so pleased the final phase of this ambitious project is getting started.
"The efforts of the project steering group have seen the estate transformed and it is a great feeling to know that young people now have something safe and healthy to do right on their doorstep."
David Hull, from Muir, added: "The children's play area, along with the MUGA, are part of our vision to bring a feeling of fun and community back into Glebe Green. " The community group has been driving these plans all the way and this play area will be a shining example of what we can achieve when we work together on community regeneration."

Absolutely MARVEOUS!!!
What a complete waste of money!
We can all sit back and watch in horror as the rough elements on the Glebe take to destroying the play equipment on the dark winter nights !!!!

Hnag on a minute Terry.
The basketball court seems to still be in one piece and the new playground is getting put up in front of the Muir Housing offices.
It has staff whp live close by as well as CCTV.
Please dont slag the estate off before anything has happened.

Terry it is comments like yours... about young people on the Glebe that give the local youth a bad name in Winsford. I have been working with youths on the Glebe for over seven years and I feel that most of the youths in the area are much better than this. There are always a small section that behave badly.. but you could say this about any section of society.... also do you even know where the money for this project came from?

Oh here we go out crawls the social workers! Bet your a good whack from the tax payer for justifying your existance!
It's FACT! The Glebe estate is nutorious and has a reputation second to none across the region!
All started with the Liverpool overspill in the 1960s.
It's a hell hole and always will be!

Terry your comment about Karen above is all wrong. Do you know how much she got paid over the last seven years for all her work on the Glebe...I do.. it is nothing! thats right nothing...
The work she does is not paid it is very professional but voluntary and it even costs her money e.g. phone bills (which she pays for out of her full time paid employment- which is not payed for out of your or anyone's taxes).
She is not a Social Worker but a highly qualified Youth Worker they are totally different.
I also think you over estimate the reputation of the Glebe I have found that most people I talk to in the region do not even know where Winsford is let alone the Glebe. As for it being an hell hole that is simply not true many people that I know are happy on this estate BUT comments such as your do not help the situation.
Out of interest I noticed that you made your comment in the early hours so do you need night sedation or are you out of a job and thus getting some of my taxes?

I think that the MUGA and play area will be very good for the Glebe. Karen does a lot for us on the Glebe and I think that she is great and the other people helping us are great to.

Won't be long until the sheer number of yobs on the Glebe wreck the play area again!
Unfortunately, I do not share your enthusiasm. Just hope it's not my taxes paying for everything that gets wrecked in that place!
Anyhow, the article:-
"Vandals destroy children’s play area"

That is a relief :-)
However, won't be long until the sheer number of yobs on the Glebe wreck the play area again!
I truely feel sorry for the kids, but I think your all trying to "Push Water Up A Hill With A Thimble!"

If you take a close look at the newspapers today you will see all sections of sociaty behaving badly. There are people old and young that drink drive, there are nurses and doctors being investigated for may be killing their patients and there are police voting on strike action (which may be illegal). The point is that newspapers tend to report bad conduct more easily than the good. To single out youths and not the rest off us is wrong. The youth are always a easy target and I admit that some elements do not help the matter. The point is that we were all young once and that youths are just people to.... there are good and bad as in every section of life.
I for one would much rather have money spent in Winsford trying to do something for the local community than spending it on another somthing in London or another war somewhere in the Middle East.
I think that there may be problems with the play area but we do not close the pubs when people drink drive or shut the shops when some people shoplift from them or shut the hospitals because some doctor or nurse kills their patients.... what we do is try and catch the bad poeple while making life better for others... and this includes youths.
