David Tennant has revealed he is now officially a father of two after adopting his wife Georgia Moffett's son.

The former Doctor Who star told Christian O'Connell on his Absolute Radio breakfast show this morning that he adopted 10-year-old Tyler shortly after the birth of his daughter, Olive.

Tennant said: "My baby is almost a year old and I adopted my wife's boy last year as well so I became a father twice in six months - that's got to be something of a record, hasn't it?"

The 40-year-old actor married 27-year-old Georgia - who played his daughter in 2008 Doctor Who episode The Doctor's Daughter - in December last year.

Tennant stars in the new animated children's film The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists, in which he voices a young Charles Darwin.

The Scottish actor said he was "slightly embarrassed" to be promoting the film because the real stars are the people behind the animation.
