THE Royle Family’s Ricky Tomlinson is to headline a night of stand-up in Warrington to raise money for charity.

Ricky, also known for Mike Bassett England Manager, Brookside and Cracker, will be sharing a stage with Gary Skyner, winner of Merseyside Comedian of the Year three years running and star of the Jonathan Ross Big, Big Talent Show.

X-Factor contestant Kiera Weathers will be singing on the evening hosted by HC Promotions at The Hayloft in Sandy Lane, Great Sankey, as well.

The show called Kicking Cancer’s Arse on September 22 is to raise money for Lymphoma Action and Warrington and Halton hospitals.

Tickets, which cost £25, include a hotpot supper and there will be a DJ until late for those who want to make a night of it.

Ricky, 78, started his TV career as Bobby Grant in Brookside before portraying Jim Royle in The Royle Family.

He was also in a BAFTA-nominated episode of Paul Abbott’s series Clocking Off, written by Danny Brocklehurst.
