FIRE WITH FIRE (15)

HOLLYWOOD stunt coordinator David Barrett has turned his hand to directing for this revenge thriller.

But if Fire With Fire is anything to go by he should stick to the day job.

The film features a high profile cast including Bruce Willis and Rosario Dawson but the opportunity is squandered with a run-of-the-mill story.

It sees firefighter Jeremy (Transformers’ Josh Duhamel) caught in the crosshairs of gang leader David Hagan (Vincent D'Onofrio) after escaping from a murder scene.

He proves perfect for witness protection because he has no family but then conveniently falls in love with Rosario Dawson’s marshal assigned to protect him Now with something to lose – and with the unofficial endorsement of cop Mike Cella (Bruce Willis) – Jeremy decides to take the gang head on with the help of his firefighting skills.

Willis seems to be getting typecast as a jaded police officer these days and his unenthusiastic role does very little to help the film.

The same is true of the gangsters, including Vinnie Jones, whose snarling one-dimensional performances are more likely to make you laugh than fill you with fear.
