RESIDENTS will decide if a Winsford man is named as the best at his job after he was shortlisted for the Council Worker of the Year Awards in recognition of his work to combat anti-social behaviour.
Community Safety Warden (CSW) Chris Doyle, 49, who is anti-social behaviour liaison officer with Vale Royal Borough Council, has been chosen as a finalist because of his work to prevent youths in the borough getting involved in crime.
Army veteran Chris has been shortlisted in the Innovation category.
CSW manager Steve Newson said: "Chris has done so much to help youths, their families and ultimately our communities and his hard work is paying off with some astonishing results. It's only through time, dedication and persistence that he has achieved such dramatic results and I don't believe anyone could be more worthy of this award."
As a measure of Chris's success, less than 10 per cent of all youths he has dealt with have required further intervention.
He uses options including acceptable behaviour contracts, parental guidance, youth inclusion programmes and school referrals to assist his role.
The CSW scheme is funded by Vale Royal Borough Council and Weaver Vale Housing Trust.
To vote for Chris via SMS text 80039, quoting LGATV 1 Chris, visit valeroyal.gov.uk and follow the links, phone the council on 01606 867512 and leave your name and first line of your address or sign a voting registration at the council's One-Stop-Shop in Winsford.
Voting will close on Thursday, July 3 and the winners will be announced at a gala dinner at this year's Local Government Association annual conference in Bournemouth.
