SCHOOLCHILDREN were treated to a visit from a former Premier League star footballer.
Sammy Ameobi, who has played for the likes of Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, paid a visit to Middlewich High School.
The 31-year-old winger popped by as part of the school’s extra-curricular club ‘Talking Faith’.
Each week pupils meet with Antony Bhunu and Simon Drew from Middlewich Churches Together.
Sammy spoke to the pupils about his career as a professional footballer and also his faith, being a devout Christian and the son of John Ameobi, an apostle at Newcastle Apostolic Church.
He also spoke to a year nine religious education class and some of the year eight and nine football team during his visit on Tuesday (April 23).
“The atmosphere in the lesson and at lunch was of excitement and respect,” said a spokesperson for Middlewich High School.
“We are really grateful to Sammy for giving up his time to inspire our students.”
